| okok.... I was gone for a year!! @_@ I guess I'm just not a "go online and talk/blog" person... maybe I'm the most laziest girl that you guys have ever meet? who is even lazy to check the blog and update myself to my old friends?
ok, as you guys (some?)know, I was working on a group animation last year... if anyone didn't get a chance to see it, email me and I'll upload it again through yousendit.com~ (*even though I don't go online that often, but I DO check email everyday*)
I was working on a game for my friend as co-op for the entire summer this year... I'm not sure if it will ever get finish!! Honestly, It is NOT fun to work on a game project from scratch...||| we have too few people with unlimited workload @_@ concept/theme design, character/monster/costume/item/weapon/location/level/music design, 3D modeling, texturing, rigging, animation, programming, networking etc etc..... and our team only has 6 people at the moment? My friend is still trying to find more.... My friend said we'll probably do a demo first, then try to find sponsor to continue on the project later? During the co-op period, I'm responsible for most of the character/monster/costume designs. I got a chance to learn 3D studio MAX, so I can model my own character, add texture, rig it and test animation. It feels funny when I saw my own design turns from 2D drawing to 3D model Up to this point I have most of the 2D designs done, now I'm concentrate on modeling them in computer. It was so~ PAINFUL =___= I like hand-drawing more.... before I was thinking on going to computer animation in the future, now I should really reconsider it...|||
Besides drawing at work, I also go to subway sketching every Sunday with a bunch of artists. My only way to keep my life drawing skill is to sketch people in the subway from life~ It is a really great experience! but I think we can only do this in western countries. I can imagine if I want to draw people at subway in Hong Kong, I bet many will give me dead glares or shout at me @_@ but I really like it alot!! This sketch group thing starts from a young taiwanese artist who studied the same animation program as me several years ago, now I'm learning how to draw characature from him. He is an excellent teacher and a great friend to talk to~ He starts to get famous after a newspaper interview him about this subway sketch group thing, then two chinese television station interview him as well.... Currently he is working on concept art (character/location design/color concept) for TV shows and two featured animation (one of them is for Disney) @0@ he even asks me if I want to join his team, I would really really hope to do so too!!!!!!! only if I haven't promise to help my friend on the game first.....||| I would do anything to work under him and learn!!!! I know I would have learn so~~~ much and gain more experience there!!!! >< Even my parents tell me to "stick" with him as much as possible to learn, and ask to work at his studio once I graduate next year!! I will do that next time I see him.
Talking about next year... my classmates are thinking of going to Europe, Italy for graduation trip, but my cosplay friends (who are also graduate next year, but different school) want to go to Japan (and of course, HK as well).... I really want to go to both, but I know I cannot go to both of them... my parents will kill me...||| (plus I don't have that much money, I need the summer to earn money too T____T) I never went to Europe before, I know I will get inspire if I go to Italy, where many famous art galleries and churches are. If I go to Japan with my cosplay friends, I will have a FANASTIC time. Since two of them have no problem communicating with Japanese, we can go to concerts, different anime events, hot spring etc.... plus I can go back to HK afterwards!!!! I cannot decide which one to go to.... yet. I still have one year to decide~~~~~~~~~~ or maybe I'll end up with the third choice, still in Toronto and work.... hopefully it won't be that....

| whuahahaha!! finally, I've waited for that day for so~ long >///< (about 3 years...) Yesterday I was finally able to meet with Rosanna and Evelyn at Causeway Bay...after I've arrived in Hong Kong for 2 weeks already...
heehee Ros, I was glad that I really surprised you there! I didn't care if other people were staring at us at that moment~ I was too nervous when I walked up to you guys, so I hid behind a man to go up to you and I forgot to turn on my camera >///< before I was just planning to snap a shot of your surprise face, later I figured out it would be better to shot a video clip ^^ Good that I remembered it on time to take a few second of video clip~ heehee, I will keep this clip forever ^^
heehee, after yesterday's event, I can finally phone you any time lu!! >////< Also, thank you so~~ much for Evelyn's help! Without her, my plan would not work out!! Thank you x 100000000!!! (hug hug to both of you!)
| heehee, haven't blog for centuries...
I just finished my trip in Japan. I was in the Exchange Student Program for 2 weeks, then travelled around Japan for 1 more week with my sister.
While I was in the exchange program, I was living with the volunteered host family. It was because my Japanese student lives too far away from school (she has to switch 3 trains + 1 bus in a total of 3 hours to get to school everyday), some families who live close to the university volunteered to host us. The family who hosted me is Mimaki-san. They were very nice people, Mrs. Mimaki cooked very delicious traditional Japanese meal for me every morning and night. The meals were very delicious!! Since I knew that in Japanese culture, you have to finish everything in your bowl, sometimes it was hard for me to take in all the food! In Japanese traditional home meal, they usually have several small dishes per person + rice + soup (usually miso). I was afraid that I'm getting fatter after each meal T___T At the same time I was wondering if they eat so many food (actually not too many, but it seems a lot because of all different kinds of dish) how can the Japanese girls still look so skinny!!! >< Then I understood after realizing many of them walk to school everyday... I was used in Canada where we go by car where ever we go, I almost forgot about walking. They surely have plenty of exercise everyday. Especially when our university is on a hill, the slope is so steep that it was painful to walk all~ the way up there...||| (I always ran out of breathe when I reached the top)
The first day we attended to the school, they have a big welcome party for us. They even have the school principle and the governer of that city for speech too!! @_@ We felt so embarrassed since us the Canadian students don't even know if our principle is male or female.... don't even mention the governer of our city....|||| From that, we can see the great difference between the Western culture and Eastern culture. In Western culture, everything is so open, we even treat our teachers as friends. For Japanese, they divided each status very clearly and seriously.
At night, I slept in one of those semi-traditional room (at least it seems to me that way) I had to lay out the "bed" every night and packed to one side every morning to save space. Plus a very short-leg table which I used every night to write diaries and play with my sister's laptop. All these are very similar to the ones we often see in manga or animation. It feels funny since I always see them on tv but never really experience myself.
ok, maybe I will stop here for now. I don't want to have a extremely long blog here... I would like to tell more in person... but the worse is... I don't know how long do I have to wait for that day to come....|||||| T________T
